Become A Child's Champion!
Join us and our Chair, Louise, to raise funds to
realize the dreams of children in Haiti.
Why Become A Champion for Kids in Haiti
Education is the key to eliminating devastating poverty.
In Haiti, education is not readily accessible to the majority of Haitian families as they must pay for their child's tuition, books, uniform, and supplies. This situation causes delayed starts to a child's academic career and interruptions to their schooling. Nearly 60% of all enrolled children end their academic career at or before Grade 9.
At our school, families pay a nominal annual family registration fee. Champions - like you! - ensure our students' educational expenses are provided for. This includes a daily lunch and special learning programming.
When you become a Champion, you ensure a child is able to advance in their schooling, every year.
Our school experiences a 95% retention rate. And, our Grade 9 classes boast a final government exam pass rate of 95% or higher each year, enabling our students to access a Highschool education.

55 Reasons to Run
Our Goal: $33,000
Our school educates over 300 children each school year.
Some of our students are sponsored through ongoing monthly or annual gifts.
These sponsorships ensure stability and sustainability for our students' most basic educational needs: consistently paid staff (even in times of unrest); educational resources for teachers and students; a uniform; and, text and work books.
Not all students have a sponsor.
The annual cost to educate a child in Haiti is $600 annually, or $50/month.
Our goal is to raise funds equal to the cost of educating 55 of our students in either one-time or monthly gifts.
Why 55 Children?
Our Chair, Louise, is celebrating her 55th birthday this August!
As a long-time recreational runner, Louise is committing to running 55kms on June 22nd - 55kms for 55 specific students at the school who do not yet have a Champion.
You can run or walk 5km for one of these 55 students, too!
When you sign up, you will create your own fundraising page to highlight the student that you are supporting. Then, engage your networks to champion YOUR student and their educational needs.
How Much Should I Raise?
The annual cost to educate and provide a daily meal for 1 student is $600.
As your supporters contribute to provide the educational needs for your student, you'll earn "virtual" award badges marking your progress towards providing for your student's educational needs.

Event Description
Get ready for an event where the course is beautiful and the "good feels" are plenty. We've got you covered for an enjoyable, fun experience on a sunny June day!
Our 5km route takes you through the charming and historic Heritage Abbott St. corridor. It is a flat, paved route on sidewalks and bike path. It is an accessible route. Children in strollers and well behaved dogs on leash are welcome on the route. Note that, unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in Strathcona Beach Park itself.
Louise's final leg of her 55km route follows the final loop back of the 5km route, ensuring our walkers can cheer her on as we all head back to Strathcona Beach Park to celebrate and enjoy ICE CREAM provided by Parlour Ice Cream and made with authentic Haitian vanilla!
Fast runners and walkers are encouraged to enjoy the Park, Reggae Fusion food truck, and nearby Abbott St. Cafe while they wait for Louise to arrive.
